How Digital Displays and Social Media Improve Customer Experience

How Digital Displays and Social Media Improve Bar Customer Experience

Digital displays are becoming more and more common in bars, tasting rooms, and just about anywhere that serves alcohol. They provide a lot of benefits over a chalkboard; quicker menu updates, easier to read in dim lighting, and flexibility in case you want to show something else on the TV like an event promotion or sporting event.

Digital displays have also become a great way to engage with patrons on social media and improve the customer experience, which benefits everyone at the end of the day because patrons that have fun at your business stay longer and come back more often.

Driving Awareness of Your Social Accounts

One of the advantages of showcasing social media posts on digital displays is driving awareness of the content that you are posting and encouraging your patrons to follow your social media accounts. This is a great way to put your brand and company values on display to inform your customers about what you are highlighting with your social posts, whether that’s menu items, events, or pictures of the staff and the environment of your business.

Creating Engagement With a Branded #Hashtag

Social media posts can also be shared on digital displays to drive customer engagement while they are visiting your establishment. Evergreen social media tools allow you to display Instagram posts tagged with a specific hashtag.

This enriches guests’ experience by giving them a chance to show up on the “big screen.” In turn, this creates a greater connection between your business and your guests, which can be a fun reminder to come back in for another drink in the future.

This also makes the guest experience more interactive because people can take a picture of their drink or food, post it online, and see it show up on your digital display right away.

Balancing Social Media Posts and Menus on One Display

One question that might arise is how best to show both a menu and social media on a single digital display without favoring one too strongly over the other. There are a few ways to accomplish this, depending on the situation.

One is to rotate the screens so that the menu shows for some of the time, and the social media posts and perhaps a few promotions scroll in and out in between the menu screens. Another option is to show the social posts in a section of the screen (e.g. at the bottom) while using the rest of the screen to display menu items.

For menus with more items, especially those that span multiple screens, it may be best to display the social posts at the same time as the menu or on their own screen entirely so that patrons can effectively read the menu.

For menus that can fit on one or two screens, it can work nicely to have the pages scroll between the menu and social promotions since a shorter menu is easier to remember and takes less time to display.
